Girl Eye Exam

Optometrist or Ophthalmologist

Every Optometrist and Ophthalmologist is a certified eye specialist, and both are commonly given the title "Eye Doctor."  These similarities often lead to confusion between the positions.

The Doctors at Duvall Advanced Family EyeCare are our licensed optometrists in Duvall. An optometrist is a Doctor of Optometry and is certified to administer vision care; but is different than a medical doctor like an ophthalmologist.   A Doctor of Optometry degree (OD) requires four years of post-graduate school in a college of optometry, and many optometrists also complete a year of on site training).

As an optometrist, our eye doctors near Monroe & Redmond Ridge, WA are certified to provide eye care services to the Duvall area, including eye exams, prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses, as well as treatment for common eye conditions and diseases.

Ophthalmologists

Every ophthalmologist is a Doctor of Medicine (MD) specializing in eye care. After medical school, an ophthalmologist is required to complete a year of internship and 3 years of residency in order to practice ophthalmology. Ophthalmologists alone are licensed to perform eye surgery.

While there are currently no ophthalmologists in Duvall, Duvall Advanced Family EyeCare can help refer you to the perfect doctor for your needs.
