Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy
Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy allows the doctor to see internal eye structures in greater detail than ever before. Our Zeiss GDx Scanning Laser examines and measures the thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer, allowing a diagnosis of glaucoma before permanent vision loss occurs. We use this instrument to examine all patients over age 40 for thinning retinal nerve fiber layer and we use it to follow all glaucoma patients to insure our treatment continues to be successful. Scanning laser ophthalmoscopy is a powerful tool in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma.
